The Philmont Training Center (PTC) is located in the mountains of northeastern New Mexico near Cimarron - about halfway between Raton and Taos.
Rich in history and natural beauty, this area offers exciting, educational experiences for the entire family, with an almost ideal climate of warm days and cool nights.
Serving as the National Training Center for the Boy Scouts of America, it offers a variety of week-long conferences. Scroll down to learn about my trip to PTC last summer

Our
trip to Philmont included a stop in La Junta Colorado to visit the famous
Koshare Indian Museum, also known as the Kiva. The museum has an amazing
collection of Native American art and artifacts(see image at right,
with Joe and Kachina). The picture below is of the Villa Philmonte,
part of the PTC complex. We had meals in the Villa daily. |

attended a seminar, "Teaching Basic Outdoor Skills", a week-long
session for Boy Scout trainers. He had a great time, and made many new
friends. The group shot at left is Paul's Teaching Basic Outdoor Skills
